Biographical Information / Professionnal Background

After a university route in Plastic arts and in Art history, Xavier Noël turns to the arts and crafts by forming during two years in Strasbourg in the studio of a gilder, Better Worker of France, specialized in the restoration of historic monuments.

Following this learning, he created his own studio in 2012, what allows him to turn to the contemporary creation while continuing to use the traditional techniques of gilt and ornamentation on wood.

In 2013, he begins a series of gilded ethnic and grotesque masks, allowing the invaluable material to exceed his purely decorative function; idols inspired by the voodoo and the Japanese cartoons come then, sorts of imaginary divinities were not divested of humor. His creations are a hybridization of influences such as the decorative arts of the XVIIIth century, the primitive arts and the ” pop culture “.

From 2012 till 2014, he exposes in Strasbourg, in particular in the art Fair « Résonnaces ». In 2015, he receives the Prize of the Young Creation craft Art in Paris.
