Biographical information/Professional background

Born in 1978, Muriel Chéné studying first the visual arts at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Angers, before obtaining a degree Companion European glassmaker CERFAV in 2004. She discovered the glass paste technique practiced by the ancient Egyptians over 4,000 years here, she chooses in order to work with light.

Inspired by her sketches from life, her world is populated by small enigmatic characters made by the method of “lost wax”. Muriel begins with a wax-up of the character, around which it sinks a refractory plaster mold, then comes the step of baking at 900 °. Born so small diaphanous beings, solitary or staged, through which the light that reveals their presence and delicacy. Often contemplative, They invite to ponder the passage of time.

Marion King, in Artension magazine talks about Muriel and her crystal dreams: “They shall, sail, wander. Vibrating, dancing, whirling. Meditative, contemplative or talkative. They inhabit a crystal shell, heavy and delicate, mineral and sparkling. ”

Since 2008, they travel in France and abroad in galleries of contemporary art events.

The French Arts Factory presents the artsworks of the artist on the occasion of the exhibition “Poetic inspiration” in Juin 2015.
