Sandrine Pincemaille

Biographical information/Professional background

Visual artist and Tapestry maker based in Chalonnes-sur-Loire, Sandrine Pincemaille is specialised in creating transparent lace, works suspended between lightness, silence and evanescence. Sandrine explores the possibilities of colourless or metallic thread without traditional supports, giving her work an airy, almost immaterial dimension.

Sandrine draws inspiration from both nature and abstract graphic design. Plant motifs—grasses, foliage, undergrowth—reveal an organic and poetic world, while maintaining a highly modern expression. The play of transparency and the effects of light and shadow evoke the passage of wind through branches or the shimmering of water.

Her artistic approach is not limited to naturalistic representation: she also develops abstract graphics where the very structure of lace becomes a visual language. The threads, stretched, crossed and superimposed, form networks that evoke interior cartographies, mental landscapes or visual scores close to abstract art. This process reflects a search for the essential, the gesture and the balance between control and spontaneity.

Her work thus asserts itself in a subtle dialogue between nature and abstraction, transparency and materiality, offering the viewer works that are at once sensitive, delicate and strikingly innovative.

For more than 25 years, Sandrine Pincemaille has participated in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and salons in France (Paris, Angers, Lyon, etc.), Denmark, Belgium and Latvia, for example, most often in magnificent venues steeped in history.
